What is Fear Free Grooming?

Fear Free Groomer Certification Program teaches groomers how utilize positive training methods to ensure the grooming experience is as enjoyable as possible for every pet, every time.

The Matted Doodle has been Fear Free Certified since January 2021 and uses the concepts taught every day to help ease grooming anxieties through a calm and gentle approach. I groom every pet for the years to come, not just to get the job done that one time. Sometimes this means a slow and steady Fear Free approach.

Fear Free Grooming In Action

Meet Kato! Kato is a 100 pound, Great Dane mix, sweetheart. When I first started working with Kato, he was very suspicious of the whole grooming process; from the bath to the nails.

Three years and lots and lots of treats later, he willingly walks right into the tub and stands like a champ while I clip and grind his nails.

When groomers are able to build a trusting relationship with the pets we help care for, cooperative grooming based out of love and respect takes the place of reactive and fearful grooming.
